"This egg fits on your fingertip!"
"A teeny tiny worm has crawled out of the egg. You're afraid to hurt it..."
"Some say Faceless must have made a mistake creating Whirms. They are typically either used as fishing bait, or kept in terrariums as pets for children."
Sprites: Lavie, Rhynn
Whirms were released on December 3rd, 2015, and are among the site's first official creatures that were released. They have an albino variant. Most people seem to agree that Faceless must have made a mistake creating this poor creature...
Whirm eggs are so small that they can fit on a person's fingertip, which is why it's so hard to even spot them. Once the egg is closer to hatching, it gets darker, and the baby growing inside can easily be seen when the egg is put under bright light. Upon hatching, the Whirm's body is light orange with two yellow makings near its lower end, and its head is completely yellow. Whirm adults fit easily into a person's palm.
Wild Whirms spend the majority of their time under damp leaf litter or in soft, damp soil. They eat decaying plant matter, and make tiny, intricate burrows that they traverse through. Their lives consist of burrowing through dirt, eating, and being heavily preyed upon by predators, since they have no real defenses.
Owned Whirms don't do much different from their wild cousins. They don't appear to be very smart, and they seem quite happy being left in a container with soil and fresh fruit.
Whirms don't know any magic, and unfortunately can't even defend themselves any other kind of way.
